Testimonials About Rachel Luehm
“Rachel is a true example of LYP’s ‘Path of a Member’. In a span of three years, she joined LYP, became involved with our Personal and Professional Development Committee, was subsequently voted on the Board of Directors serving as Board at Large and now leads as our Community Service Director. I recommend to every member of LYP – join a committee like Rachel did – you’ll be amazed at the opportunities that follow.”
–AJ Eckman, 2018 President, Lancaster Young Professionals
“Congratulations to Rachel for being recognized as the first board member of the month in 2018! Rachel embodies what it means to be community servant with her persistent focus on bettering our local community in both her career and in her free time. Rachel oversees LYP’s Community Service projects and volunteer efforts which is no small feat for an organization with no paid staff.”
–Michael Heller, 2018 Vice President, Lancaster Young Professionals
Rachel Luehm | AmeriCorps VISTA, Coordinator for Lancaster Equity
Rachel is the 2018 Community Service Director for Lancaster Young Professionals (LYP). She is also a graphic designer and an AmeriCorps VISTA serving as the Coordinator for Lancaster Equity–a new economic and community development corporation made up of executive directors of anti-poverty nonprofits in Lancaster- born out of the Coalition to Combat Poverty.
Rachel Luehm | LYP’s 2018 Community Service Director
Rachel has been a member of LYP since January 2016 and joined the group in the hopes of meeting new people and finding a career that she was passionate about. Over two years later, she can proudly say she achieved both of those goals and is now deeply connected to the Lancaster community through her LYP involvement. After joining LYP’s Board in April 2016 as a Board At-Large Member–aiding the Director of Personal and Professional Development, April Book, via volunteer involvement on April’s committee–she decided to run for the 2018 Community Service Director position and won. Her experience in the nonprofit world and heart for service made her a natural fit for the position.
Rachel Luehm | Outside her Profession
Aside from her professional accomplishments to date, Rachel has had and continues to have a full, dynamic life. She grew up in Saint Louis, Michigan and is an alumna of Aquinas College (Grand Rapids, MI), where she graduated with a degree in International Studies and Spanish. After moving around Michigan, Rachel decided to venture to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the Fall of 2015. She moved to Lancaster to pursue a career that combined creativity, design, and social justice work, which she has thoroughly enjoyed. When she’s not designing or fighting poverty, she can be found in her West End home reading, cooking, or gardening.

Justin Zook | What is your involvement with and favorite aspect of LYP?
“I have been involved with LYP for two to two-and-a-half years. My favorite aspect of being a member with the Lancaster Young Professionals is the opportunity to meet great friends and nurture those relationships over time. Between the Networking Mixers and Personal and Professional Development events, it’s tough to rank one type of event over the other. The friendships truly are the best benefit of being a member.”
Justin Zook | Outside his Profession
“Over the last few years, I’ve developed a love for photography, nature, hiking, and national parks. I’m writing this now from Santa Barbara, California having just visited yesterday Santa Cruz Island (Channel Islands National Park and my 28th park overall). If things go well, then tomorrow I hit Pinnacles and continue on later this week to Sequoia and Kings Canyon. We’re all blessed to live in such a beautiful country and I would recommend to anyone to get out and explore it. It’ll change your life and perspective.”
