Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
with Booksavers of Ephrata

Booksavers recycles books that are donated to them by schools, libraries, and individuals within a fifty mile radius of their warehouse in Ephrata. Text books in good condition are sold through several organizations to schools all over the United States. Library books are sold through the Internet or in our retail store. About 75% of the books that Booksavers receive are too old or tattered and have no commercial value. These books are cut up and the paper sold for recycling. Thus tons of books are saved from being discarded in landfills.

Booksavers of Ephrata is one of the three divisions of Ephrata ReUzit Stores, Inc., a non-profit organization. All income exceeding expenses is donated to Mennonite Central Committee to use in their overseas development programs.

Persons who love books will find involvement in this organization fun and rewarding. It would be desirable but not mandatory for persons working on EBay to have prior experience either buying or selling on EBay. Volunteers pre-sorting books need only minimal computer knowledge.

Booksavers of Ephrata has the following volunteer needs for volunteers available for a half day or more per week:

EBay Sales Volunteer
This person is responsible for describing the condition of the book and entering this information on EBay for sale by auction. This person with others will follow the progress of the auction and ship the book to the successful bidder.

Book Sorters
Several volunteers are needed to pre-sort books discarding those with no commercial value. The ones with value will be further sorted for sale on EBay, the Internet or the Retail Store. Sorting is done by checking the value of the book on the internet.

Warehouse / Retail Store Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to transport books from the warehouse to the Retail Store. They will also price the books according to established guidelines and organize books by category and author in the Retail Store.
