Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
with Clare House
Clare House is a transitional shelter for homeless women and children located on East Chestnut Street in Lancaster city.
All volunteers have the ability to interact with diverse, underserved populations bust must be able to provide their own transportation to/from Clare House.
The following opportunities are available for immediate participation. Most opportunities take place Mon-Fri between 9 am-5 pm and Wednesday evenings between 5:30-8 pm. If you have the time, talent, and availability to assist, please consider helping!
Charitable Chef
Prepare a meal for Clare House residents and drop off on a scheduled Wednesday evening
Donation Organizer
Sort and organize donations as needed (weekdays)
Child Caregiver
Entertain children during Wednesday evening resident meetings
Maintenance Provider
Repair items around the house as needed (weekdays)
Life Skills Facilitator
Share your knowledge with our women to help them work towards self-sufficiency on a scheduled Wednesday evening from 6-7 pm (topics vary greatly, some examples: parenting, yoga, budgeting, conflict management, interviewing skills, nutrition, healthy cooking, and much more!)
Supply Drive Coordinator
Collect items from our wish list as an individual, group, or business and drop off at Clare House
Adopt-A-Room
Use your time and money to spruce up one of the rooms at our shelter (this may include things like painting, hanging curtains/blinds, accessories, etc.)
Mailing Preparation
Quarterly help with labeling, counting and mailing our newsletter (weekdays)
