Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
with Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania
Junior Achievement of Central Pennsylvania (JACP) was started in 1955, with just one after-school program in Lancaster County. Today it serves students in Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Juniata and Mifflin counties. During the 2009-2010 school year, JACP positively impacted 13,419 students in Central PA with 620 innovative financial literacy programs. Over 1000 volunteers participated in Junior Achievement programs and brought the real world to the classroom. Junior Achievement’s purpose is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives. Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their economic success. The volunteer delivered K-12 programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills and use experiential learning to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential. Volunteers from the business world and community-at-large come into the classroom to teach the JA curriculum, providing real-life experience with the lessons.

The following opportunities are available for immediate participation.
Classroom Volunteers
Being a classroom volunteer is rewarding, exhilarating, and easy. All you need is enthusiasm and a desire to help kids. Junior Achievement provides all the classroom materials and lesson plans. Schedules vary by class and school, but most volunteers are needed for about 45 minutes, one day a week, for about five to seven weeks. You can choose the grade level, the school, and the program you want to teach!
Junior Achievement staff will equip you with all the materials (you keep the briefcase) and review the program with you before you begin teaching. We’ll also coordinate with the school, so the teacher knows to expect you.
Special Events Volunteers
Want to have a lot of fun? Want to meet new people? Then, being a Junior Achievement event volunteer is just right for you! Special event volunteers are needed for a variety of skills, talents, and tasks. You could help decorate for black-tie Gala, run the check-in table at the Putt-for-Education Miniature Golf Outing, be a mentor and/or facilitator at the Young Women’s Futures Symposium, and much more!
