Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
with The Second Mile
Many children face adversity even before they understand how to dream. The Second Mile, founded in 1977 in State College, Pennsylvania, is a statewide non-profit organization for children who need additional support and who would benefit from positive human contact. The Second Mile plans, organizes, and offers activities and programs for children – and adults who work with them – to promote self-confidence as well as physical, academic, and personal success.
The following opportunities are available for immediate participation.
Serving as a volunteer with the Friend Program or assisting with Challenge Program registration, sharing the impact of The Second Mile with a potential donor or serving as a golf course marshal during a fundraiser, volunteering on a committee or providing support in the office – volunteers are the lifeblood of The Second Mile. Our small staff alone could reach few children. It is the extensive and dedicated volunteer network that enables The Second Mile to serve the number of children that they do through the wide array of programs and services.
Whether you are looking for an occasional volunteer job or would like to make a regular commitment, whether you want to work directly with the children in our programs or are interested in providing assistance in development and administration, your gift of time is certainly welcome. With The Second Mile, you will make a difference in the life of a child.
